Crispy Golden French Fries Recipe Served with Tangy Tomato Ketchup and Salt Sprinkles

French fries — the golden, crispy strips of joy — are a universal comfort food that no one can resist. Whether you're watching a movie, enjoying a party, or just want a quick snack, nothing beats a hot plate of fries with a side of tangy tomato ketchup and a sprinkle of salt.

In this blog, we’ll show you how to make restaurant-style French fries right at home with simple ingredients and step-by-step guidance.

 Ingredients You’ll Need:

  • 4 large potatoes (starchy variety like Russet or Idaho)
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Salt to taste
  • Tomato ketchup (for serving)

 Step-by-Step Cooking Instructions:

🔸 Step 1: Peel and Cut the Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into uniform sticks (about ¼-inch thick). This helps them cook evenly and gives that professional look.

🔸 Step 2: Soak the Potatoes

Soak the cut fries in a bowl of cold water mixed with a tablespoon of vinegar for 30 minutes. This removes excess starch and makes fries crispier.

🔸 Step 3: Parboil or Pre-Fry (Optional for Extra Crispiness)

Blanch the fries in hot (not boiling) water for 5–6 minutes or pre-fry them at low heat (about 150°C) for 2–3 minutes. Then remove and cool.

🔸 Step 4: Final Fry

Heat oil to 180–190°C. Fry the cooled potato sticks in small batches until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

🔸 Step 5: Season and Serve

While still hot, sprinkle salt over the fries. Serve with a bowl of tangy tomato ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce.

 Tips for Perfect French Fries:

  • Use starchy potatoes for best texture.
  • Soaking in vinegar water gives extra crispiness.
  • Double frying ensures fries are crispy outside and soft inside.
  • Don’t overcrowd the frying pan – cook in batches.
  • Add a dash of peri-peri, chili flakes, or cheese if you want to experiment.

Why We Love French Fries with Ketchup:

French fries are crispy, salty, and satisfying. When dipped in tangy, slightly sweet ketchup, it creates the perfect balance of flavors. This combo is timeless and appeals to both kids and adults alike.
